Amazing Kids Academy
Amazing Kidz Academy is a local daycare and educational center located in Philadelphia. What started as a single preschool has grown to four locations and six buildings throughout the Greater Philadelphia Region, with over 50 staff members and a capacity for over 450 children. In July of 2023, PIDC provided Amazing Kidz Academy with a Working Capital and Equipment Loan to refinance a COVID-19 Working Capital Access (CWCA) Program loan administered by the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA). This has allowed them to grow their revenue and improve performance.

African American Museum in Philadelphia
The African American Museum in Philadelphia is a cultural institution dedicated to preserving, interpreting, and celebrating the history, culture, and art of African Americans. Founded in 1976 during the nation’s bicentennial celebration, the museum aims to educate the public about the African American experience and its significant contributions to the country.

Cathryn’s Cake Salon
Cathryn’s Cake Salon offers a delightful array of custom cakes, pies, cookies, muffins, and more, available at their retail location and online store. They also share their family baking expertise through on and offsite decorating classes for anyone eager to learn. Cheryl and Vaniah, the talented duo behind the bakery, represented Cathryn’s Cake Salon in season one of Netflix’s Sugar Rush, where they competed in ocean-themed challenges and wowed judges with their pina colada cupcakes. In addition to their success on the show, Cathryn’s Cake Salon worked with PIDC to expand their business, receiving assistance in administering the Philadelphia Department of Commerce’s InStore Forgivable Loan, which helped them pivot and increase profits by expanding their product offerings to include breakfast items and gourmet coffee.

Fireball Printing
What started as just one printer in a row home has turned into a printing company that takes pride in high-quality and affordable prints. Fireball Printing is a print shop that provides services for bars, venues, restaurants, schools, nonprofits, and a variety of other businesses and organizations. They prioritize sustainable efforts, using only FSC certified paper and cardboard boxes, kraft paper, and plastic bags all made from 100 percent recycled materials. PIDC was proud to support Fireball printing with a commercial mortgage loan.

Good King Tavern
The Good King Tavern is a cozy, French-inspired bistro known for its warm, welcoming atmosphere and its focus on classic French cuisine, craft cocktails, and an extensive selection of wines. The tavern offers a variety of dishes, including charcuterie, French onion soup, and other traditional bistro fare. PIDC is proud to support Good King Tavern as they continue to provide great customer services, an enjoyable atmosphere, and delicious food for all.

Hair Du Jour
Offering a range of services, from cuts and color to sew-ins and treatments, Hair Du Jour works with all hair textures, using natural and organic products to ensure clients leave looking and feeling their best. Owner Ann Turner sought assistance from PIDC, which played a crucial role in her business’s growth, allowing her to invest in employee training and expand her services. With PIDC’s support, Hair Du Jour Salon has seen increased revenue and opportunities for further expansion, strengthening both herbusiness and the community.

LUHV Food
LUHV Food LLC is a woman- and Hispanic-owned manufacturing company dedicated to producing 100% nutritional vegan foods. PIDC had the pleasure of supporting LUHV Food with a COVID-19 Working Capital Access (CWCA) Program loan to refinance a state loan. During Women’s History month and all-year-long, indulge in the savory taste of sustainable and plant based goodness as you make your next visit to LUHV Food.

Monarch Yoga
Monarch Yoga, founded by Michelle Dillon in June 2020, became an escape from reality to focus on wellness during the COVID-19 pandemic. While many businesses paused operations, Michelle saw an opportunity to offer safe human connection through yoga, starting a traveling outdoor studio that hosted weekly classes in parks across Philadelphia. As demand for their services grew, PIDC supported Monarch Yoga’s expansion with a Working Capital & Equipment loan, enabling them to further their impact and provide a space for healing and community during a time of isolation.

On the Goga
On the Goga is a woman-owned organizational wellbeing company that helps build happier, healthier, and more productive teams through employee wellbeing programs, HR policy development, and leadership. In 2022, On the Goga wanted to expand their team and with the help of PIDC, On the Goga was able to continue their mission of helping organizations through wellness activities with a larger team after receiving a Working Capital loan.

Triple Bottom Brewery
Triple Bottom Brewing is a craft brewery that celebrates community through delicious beer and creative collaboration while providing jobs to people who have experienced homelessness or incarceration. Tess Hart is the guiding force behind Triple Bottom and the leader driving their mission forward. With the help of PIDC, Triple Bottom Brewery was able to adopt sustainable efforts through new supplies and well packaged beer that all customers love.

Weavers Way Co-op
Weavers Way is a member-owned cooperative grocery with locations in Northwest Philadelphia and Ambler. They offer a friendly shopping environment and reasonably priced, high-quality products that are local, sustainable, organic, fairly traded, and healthful. Weavers Way Co-op, with the help of PIDC, was able to expand and open a Germantown location with a parking lot to ensure customers have easy access from their cars to shop around.

Yowie Hotel & Shop
Yowie is a home and life shop focused on curating small collections from founder Shannon Maldonado’s friends, independent artists, and designers. YOWIE has been featured in numerous media outlets, including Marie Claire, New York Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, Forbes, Philadelphia Magazine, and Vogue. In 2022, Shannon was also featured in Architectural Digest’s 10 Black Women Changing the Architecture and Design Space. PIDC helped finance the construction and building of the 13-room hotel which opened in 2023.
