THE PHILADELPHIA DIVERSE EMERGING LEADERS (PHIDEL) SCHOLARSHIP & INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The Philadelphia Diverse Emerging Leaders (PhiDEL) Scholarship & Internship program offers local students from various backgrounds and experiences a unique opportunity to receive both financial support and hands-on experience in a professional setting that aligns with their major and career aspirations.

Launched in 2025 by PIDC with support from Crow Holdings and Colliers, the PhiDEL program is designed to advance opportunities and outcomes for students interested in pursuing careers in real estate and economic development-related fields.

AWARD & INTERNSHIP INFORMATION

Each year, up to two (2) scholarships of up to $5,000 each will be awarded. To be eligible, you must be:

  1. Full-time undergraduates (sophomores, juniors, seniors) or graduate students
  2. A student at a Philadelphia college or university; or a Philadelphia resident at a college or university studying outside the Philadelphia area.

Note: Interns must plan to be in Philadelphia for the summer internships, which will require physical presence at the work location and a commitment to full participation throughout the summer.

If selected, the awardee will receive:

  • An Internship: Real-world experience in a work environment that matches their major and future career goals. Internships are fully funded by the PhiDEL program.
  • $5,000 Scholarship: Awarded to eligible students to help support their academic pursuits.

COLLEGE MAJORS ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION

  • Real Estate (or related)
  • Business Administration (any business major/concentration)
  • Economic Development (or related)
  • Law/Legal Studies
  • Political Science/Public Policy
  • Information Technology

 

  • Marketing/Communications/Public Relations
  • Human Resources
  • Urban, City or Regional Planning/Design or Architecture
  • Entrepreneurship

*Majors or concentrations that may be named differently than shown above but have similar curriculum or degree paths are also eligible.

APPLICATION COMPONENTS TO PREPARE

  1. Resume
  2. Clubs & extracurricular activities
  3. Community service & volunteering
  4. Honors & awards
  5. Work & internship experience, if any
  6. Four short essays of no more than 500 words each
  7. Most recent undergraduate (or graduate) college/university transcript

PLEASE NOTE: Official transcripts are not required; you may upload unofficial transcripts. Your full name must be visible on all documentation provided. Your transcript should be a full transcript, showing all grades, not just a grade report.
