PIDC is governed by a thirty-member Board of Directors, appointed by the Mayor of Philadelphia and the President of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. The staff includes approximately 60 full-time employees, and PIDC’s current 12-member senior leadership team has a combined 120+ years of experience at PIDC. The organization’s annual budget of approximately $12M is funded by a combination from fees generated by PIDC’s transaction activities, service and management contracts, and contributed revenue.

POSITION SUMMARY

PIDC’s Legal Department provides legal services for the company, including negotiating, documenting and closing financing and real estate transactions, overseeing corporate governance and compliance issues as well as litigation matters, and managing outside counsel.

The Paralegal provides comprehensive legal and administrative support to the Legal Department by assisting with document preparation, contract administration, regulatory compliance, records management, and litigation support.

This position helps ensure the efficient operation of the Legal Department by maintaining accurate legal documentation, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and supporting organizational initiatives while safeguarding confidential information. The Paralegal exercises sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail to help minimize legal risk and support PIDC’s mission and strategic objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Preparation of transactional documents, including, but not limited to, licenses, leases, standard agreements of sale, loan documents and grant agreements.
  • Coordination of responses to Right to Know requests.
  • Assist in reviewing and drafting operational and conduit governmental contracts.
  • Administration of all contracts, including ensuring execution and proper filing.
  • Preparation of closing documents, attendance at closings as necessary, and preparation of closing binders.
  • Assist in the preparation of regulatory examinations, audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Performance of clerical duties as required, such as scheduling appointments, typing correspondence, and filing.
  • Coordination and facilitation of meetings with other departments and setting agendas to ensure that the Legal Department is properly serving our clients.
  • Assist the Legal Department in setting departmental business plans and track goals
  • Other related duties as directed by the General Counsel.

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be a Philadelphia, PA resident or willing to relocate within six months of hire.
  • Bachelor’s degree, an Associate’s degree with a paralegal certificate, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferably a minimum of 5 years of related experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, or government legal department focusing on corporate/transactional legal work.
  • Must be a notary in the state of Pennsylvania or be willing to become one within six months of hire.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized and have the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Docusign, Laserfiche, and Salesforce helpful but not required.
  • Some knowledge of litigation practice would be helpful.
