Putnam Valley, NY

Role at PIDC:
Business Lending
Credit Analyst

What role will you play in helping PIDC drive growth to every corner of Philadelphia?

As a Credit Analyst, I will support the business lending team by providing thorough analysis in a timely manner. I understand that the process of borrowing money is hard on business owners and my goal will be to help make that journey quick and simple for our clients. Accessibility to resources is a major limiting factor for many business owners and I hope to lower that barrier for businesses in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia is a great place to work and live because…

Philly is a city rich with creativity, community, and amazing food! I love that even though it’s a major city, it still feels like a small town at times. Gems like the West Philly Tool Library and Pentridge Station are what make Philly special.

Role at PIDC:
Navy Yard Electric Utility
Assistant General Manager

What role will you play in helping PIDC drive growth to every corner of Philadelphia?

In my role, I support the operational excellence and strategic development of the electric utility at the Navy Yard. Although my work is localized to the Navy Yard, it plays a fundamental part in sustaining the campus as an economic powerhouse for Philadelphia. With our unique energy portfolio, we’re providing a reliable and resilient power system that attracts industry-leading companies bringing thousands of job opportunities to the people of Philadelphia.

Philadelphia is a great place to work and live because…

Philadelphia is a great place to work and live because it’s a city where opportunity and community meet. You can make an impact across industries and government, while still being in an environment that feels connected and collaborative; one where relationships, learning, and growth can truly flourish. Even a casual play date with friends can easily double as a room full of local leaders, which perfectly captures how naturally Philadelphia blends work, life, and community.

Role at PIDC:

Underwriter

What role will you play in helping PIDC drive growth to every corner of Philadelphia?

I will help PIDC grow every part of Philadelphia by working on projects and loan applications, reviewing them carefully, and making sure good businesses and communities get the support they need.

Philadelphia is a great place to work and live because…

Philadelphia has a mix of neighborhoods, history, and culture. There are parks, museums, and music all around, and it makes the city really interesting to live in. It is also a great place to work, with lots of opportunities across different industries.

Alex Smith

Hometown:
Doylestown, PA

Role at PIDC:
Navy Yard
Vice President of Strategic Initiatives

What role will you play in helping PIDC drive growth to every corner of Philadelphia?

In this role, I will help strengthen the Navy Yard’s position as a major economic engine in South Philadelphia by advancing campus wide projects that improve infrastructure, public spaces, and the overall employee, visitor, and resident experiences. I am currently helping push forward the Navy Yard’s new transportation strategy to improve connectivity, reduce congestion, and support continued business growth. By aligning these efforts with stakeholder needs, while keeping in mind the 2022 plan, I hope to be an integral part in shaping new investments and expanding opportunities for all at the Navy Yard.

Philadelphia is a great place to work and live because…

Of the people! We’re a city deeply connected to our neighborhoods and neighbors. Living in Mt. Airy with my family, I take pride in being part of this great community. We love having a welcoming, vibrant commercial corridor along Germantown Avenue and are spoiled having a wide selection of public spaces to gather with friends and family, while also enjoying easy access to Center City and the region through multiple transportation options.  Philadelphians show up for one another and that spirit of support is what makes this city such a special place to call home.

Sara Touey

Role at PIDC:
Financial Services; Conduit Services
Grants Administrator

What role will you play in helping PIDC drive growth to every corner of Philadelphia?

I aim to bring a human-centered approach to the work that we do. Our partners span the private and public sectors and range from large institutions to small but mighty organizations, each with unique needs. I’ll focus on meeting people where they are so that our services and mission to drive economic growth in Philadelphia remain accessible to everyone.

Philadelphia is a great place to work and live because…

Where do I even start? I love Philly; the community here is one of a kind. The grit, determination, and heart inspire me every day, both in my personal and professional life. The food scene here is also unreal, and the city’s diversity and culture make it an incredibly special place to call home.

Vaibhavi Dave

Hometown:
Anand, India

Role at PIDC:
Real Estate
D’Alessio Intern

What are you hoping to learn during your internship?

I hope to deepen my understanding of Philadelphia’s economic landscape, especially how strategic districts like Market East can be repositioned for long-term growth and vibrancy. Through my work at PIDC, I want to also learn how PIDC partners with businesses, institutions, and developers; and how these efforts collectively support development across the city.

Philadelphia is a great place to work and live because…

For me, Philly offers a great balance of affordability, cultural richness, and opportunity. What makes it especially compelling is the presence of deeply engaged individuals and mission-driven organizations that create a supportive and inspiring environment for young professionals like me.
