Woman-owned and operated businesses continue to grow and PIDC Partner and client Angie Millan shows that having an entrepreneurial spirit can help set your business up for success.

Millan started her entrepreneurial journey in 1998 when she opened “Angie’s Auto Tags,” one of Philadelphia’s trusted one-stop shops for services including car insurance, title transfers, notary services, temporary tags, and even real estate assistance. From the beginning, Millan was committed to providing top-quality services to meet the needs of her community. However, the road to success was not without challenges. Through perseverance, hard work, and a deep dedication to her clients, Angie overcame obstacles and built a thriving business that continues to serve the Philadelphia area. “The key is listening to our clients and adapting to their needs,” said Millan. “This client-centered approach keeps us innovative and sets us apart.”

“Attending PIDC workshops has been instrumental, offering new ideas and information I wouldn’t have found elsewhere,” said Millan. “These events also provide excellent networking opportunities, which have positively impacted both my personal and professional growth.”

Millan’s passion for community and support extends beyond her business. Since 2021, she has been both a client and key partner in PIDC’s Business Builder Workshops en Español. “Attending PIDC workshops has been instrumental, offering new ideas and information I wouldn’t have found elsewhere,” said Millan. “These events also provide excellent networking opportunities, which have positively impacted both my personal and professional growth.”

Millan has made an effort to not only learn from aspiring entrepreneurs but give them an opportunity to be heard and supported. Passionate about empowering women and Hispanic and Latino(a) entrepreneurs, Millan took part in the first cohort of Ella Emprende (“She Undertakes”), presented by Widener SBDC. This year-long leadership and entrepreneurial program focused on developing personalized strategic growth plans for women-owned businesses, which she used to grow Angie’s Auto Tags.

During the pandemic, Millan and her husband Franklin Medrano started Dominican American Chamber of Commerce Inc., a nonprofit serving the Latino(a) business community in the Delaware Valley. Since 2020, the Chamber has helped over 500 business owners find resources to support their businesses, including barbershops, restaurants, taxi services, and many more.

PIDC works to support Philadelphia’s business owners, including underserved communities like Latino(a) entrepreneurs. We’re proud to have a partner and client Millian, who puts community first and continues to bring resources to those who need them.
