In 2004, Starr Osborne founded Tailored Transitions a home staging, moving management, and interior design firm used by discerning real estate professionals, developers, and homeowners in the Delaware Valley. The business has accomplished a lot since it began in Starr’s own home before it grew into a storage place then moved to a larger warehouse.

As for how the business made the jump from being a home-based business to a large warehouse in the matter of just a few years, Starr credits receiving repeat referrals from clients, especially realtors, who have previously used her services. “[Our clients] keep coming back. People like that we can customize the product for each project. What we do in your house is going to be different from your neighbors,” said Starr. The firm has been featured in The New York Times, Better Homes and Gardens, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Philadelphia Style, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Real Estate Professional and the Chestnut Hill Local. Plus, it was also the only home staging company to win Philadelphia Magazine’s accolade: Best of Philly for home staging.

“Our business grows an average of 10% annually and we now have two locations, and 18 people on payroll.” -Starr Osborne, Owner

The company has been flourishing ever since its expansion to the warehouse, so Starr, who’s also an alumna of PIDC partner program, Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses, decided to add another component to the brand. In 2016, with the help of a Working Capital & Equipment Loan from PIDC, Tailored Transitions added a retail location — Tailored Home — a curated home boutique in Chestnut Hill, featuring custom furniture, home accessories, bed & bath linens, and bridal registry. “I could not have opened the store without the financial assistance of PIDC. PIDC continues to be our strongest supporter, financially and strategically. The financial assistance and advice are amazing,” said Starr. “Our business grows an average of 10% annually and we now have two locations, and 18 people on payroll.”

The company is currently rebuilding the website for their store. Starr is also excited about the company’s wedding registry reaching a larger audience. “The most rewarding part of our job is that look of contentment on a client’s face when we provide great innovation or efficiency by transforming a room, or creating a new home for them,” said Starr.
