Kevin O’Brien Studio has been creating luxurious silk velvet textiles for twenty-five years. Kevin’s products sell at Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Anthropologie, and hundreds of stores nationwide and internationally. Recently, the studio relocated to a larger space on the vibrant South Broad Street corridor. The expansion which was financed with a PIDC Capital Project Loan, has allowed Kevin O’Brien Studio to develop new technologies making for more efficient production. The studio sells primarily to-the-trade, but is looking forward to opening its new space to the Philadelphia design community.
Kevin got his start working at Architecture 25 but wanting to keep his hand in painting he, like so many artists before him, began painting silk scarves. He was lucky enough to be offered a job at the College of Textiles in Philadelphia and it was while teaching design that he learned the technical side of the textile industry. From that point on his business slowly took over his life and the company began producing a wide variety of home and fashion textiles. Today, with the help of a handful of collaborators and employees, the studio produces some of the most unique and luxurious artisan pillows, scarves, and bedding in the industry. All handmade in Philadelphia.
