PrintThe Navy Yard was proud to present the inaugural Navy Yard 5k, which took place on June 11, 2014 during lunch. The race was open to all employees of The Navy Yard, with over 400 runners participating from a diverse mix of companies. The cool summer day was perfect weather for a 5k run starting in Crescent Park, down League Island Boulevard, and along the Delaware River. The run kicked off with a pre-race group stretch provided by Nava Yoga Center, which prepared all of the runners to run well while avoid injury.

After the race, runners and spectators visited the health and wellness fair in Crescent Park, featuring Navy Yard tenants Jefferson at The Navy Yard, Matarazzo & Milici Group, and Vincera Institute, providing employees with everything from post-race massages to blood pressure tests. The entire day was a great way to promote a healthy and active lifestyle at The Navy Yard!

Also, a HUGE thanks to our corporate sponsors for making the event possible: GSK, Jefferson at the Navy Yard, Liberty Property Trust, Philadelphia 76ers, PIDC, Philadelphia Ship Repair, Resource America, Inc., Sb1 Federal Credit Union, and Vincera Institute!
