MSDCChoiceAwardsThe PA-NJ-DE Minority Supplier Development Council (MSDC)  non-profit is one of the leading business membership organizations in this region. Its primary objective is to provide a direct link between corporate America and minority owned businesses. MSDC also certifies minority-owned businesses and creates access to opportunities for them.

At this years’ Annual Choice Awards, MSDC will recognize PIDC’s Marla Hamilton as their 2013 Advocate of the Year. The Annual Choice Awards is an opportunity to celebrate organizations and individuals who help carry out MSDC’s mission. The organization had this to say about Ms. Hamilton, “Her commitment as a trusted and dedicated resource partner has a pronounced impact on our region and we thank her for her hard work.

Marla Hamilton is an Economic Development Professional with nearly 25 years’ experience in economic development planning and implementation.  Marla has demonstrated ability to identify business opportunities by enhancing policy development and creating partnerships that result in business and employment growth.  Marla has worked collaboratively with entrepreneurs, small and medium sized businesses, developers, banks, and unions across a variety of industries including manufacturing, services, banking, and construction. 

As Vice President of Business Development at the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC), Marla manages the Emerging Business Loan Program, a working capital line-of-credit program, with a primary emphasis on providing low-interest contract financing to Minority Business Enterprises (MBE), Women Business Enterprises (WBE) and Disabled Business Enterprises (DS-BE).  As a PIDC Relationship Manager, Marla additionally manages PIDC’s neighborhood development projects portfolio, working with community development corporations, small non-profit organizations, developers, owner-occupied businesses and banks to structure capital project financing that results in business attraction and retention, and permanent employment.

The Choice Awards will take place on Friday, December 6th at the Hyatt at the Bellevue in Center City. The evening will include a reception, silent auction, dinner, awards presentations and entertainment.
