The Philadelphia Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has cited PIDC’s Carmen G. Zappile as Engineering Manager of the Year for 2018.  This award was presented to Carmen at the Philadelphia ASCE’s annual Spring Social on May 3.

Carmen is PIDC’s Vice President of Planning and Project Development.  He has been with PIDC for the past 14 years.  Carmen manages Philadelphia Navy Yard‘s capital infrastructure improvement program, as well as the planning, development, and implementation of individual projects totaling in excess of $130 million to date. In his role at PIDC he is also responsible for supervision of staff and multiple architect and engineering firms, to support PIDC and other city agencies in technical investigations, project implementation and management. He also assists with coordination of the Navy Yard’s various developments and large-scale construction projects, infrastructure requirements, permitting, and regulatory issues.

Carmen is a graduate of Widener University, where he received his Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering in 1990.  He returned to school to earn a Masters degree in City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania in 2003.  He and his family reside in Roxborough. PIDC congratulates Carmen Zappile on this well deserved award!
