ShovelsCroppedLast week, PIDC staff joined the Dietz & Watson family, City and State officials and a host of other guests for the groundbreaking of Dietz & Watson’s new distribution center. The $50 million expansion project will create a state-of-the- art food campus that will efficiently bring together their corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility with a new distribution center. This is an exciting time for this venerable family-owned and operated business celebrating their 75th anniversary.  The groundbreaking was a great way to celebrate a national brand continuing to grow right where it started.

The expansion comes a year after the company’s warehouse burned down in New Jersey and will create 158 new jobs in constructing the new distribution facility in the Tacony section of Philadelphia. PIDC brought together the partners necessary to facilitate this expansion orchestrating a real estate transaction that assembled 77 acres of land from multiple public private sources. The new land allowed PIDC to sell Dietz & Watson 20 acres for its new distribution center. The transaction also created a 30-acre development site ready to house growing industrial companies and extended waterfront recreation along the banks of the Delaware River.
