PIDC and ULI Philadelphia have been convening a Steering Committee over the last two years on the impacts of the Future of Work on Land Use and Commercial and Industrial Real Estate. The group serves to provide insight and/or recommendations specifically related to:

  1. Nurturing the growth of the life sciences
  2. Increasing uses of land that will increase good opportunities for the Lower Schuylkill and education level labor, such as commercial corridors
  3. Maximizing opportunities for job-intensive logistics and fulfillment-type industrial uses
  4. Creatively reusing land and or/buildings that become functionally obsolete
  5. Identifying other emerging industry sectors and real estate or planning gaps

At the October meeting, the group discussed a variety of important issues in regards to the future of work. Some of the highlights from the conversation include updates from the City’s Office of Workforce Development and the Chamber of Commerce.
