Home care agencies play a vital role in today’s healthcare landscape, especially as more individuals choose to age in a designated home with professional care workers or manage chronic conditions from the comfort of their own homes. Carefully Caring Home Care Agency meets this critical need, promoting dignity, independence, and stability in the communities they serve.

Owned by Rolanda Robinson, Carefully Caring Home Care Agency, is a woman-owned, community-centered business committed to helping individuals live independently with dignity and personalized support. From personal care and companionship to transportation services for clients and Alzheimer’s support, the agency delivers compassionate services that enhance the quality of life for clients and their families.

We recently spoke with Robinson about her business journey and how Carefully Caring Home Care Agency continues to grow, both in impact and size.

What inspired you to start your business?

Growing up in a community with limited access to resources, I saw firsthand the challenges underserved populations face. Working in the prison system for 10 years further fueled my desire to be part of the solution and make a meaningful impact in my community. While searching for ways to help, I stumbled across the opportunity to become a home care provider and that’s where it all started. My passion for helping people live with dignity and independence ultimately led me to establish Carefully Caring Home Care Agency.

How has your business evolved since its inception?

Since 2019, CCHC has grown from a home-based startup into a full-service home care agency with a dedicated office space in Philadelphia. We’ve expanded our client base, increased staff, and are now looking to extend our services into Berks County. We’re also looking to strengthen our role in the community through sponsorships, awareness events, and partnerships that support our mission.

How do you stay innovative and adapt to changes in your industry? What makes your business unique?

We stay ahead by continuously improving our services and maintaining strong relationships with our clients and their families. What makes CCHC unique is our deep-rooted commitment to providing culturally competent care, our community-driven approach, and our focus on creating a supportive environment for both clients and caregivers.

Can you share a particularly memorable success story or proud moment in your business journey?

One of my proudest moments was seeing a client, who had been isolated for years, reintegrate into the community, make friends, and regain a sense of purpose through our services. Moments like these remind me why I started this business to make real, lasting impacts on people’s lives.

When and why did you seek PIDC’s assistance, and in what way(s) did PIDC support your project?

I sought PIDC’s assistance after completing the Goldman Sachs Programs at Community College of Philadelphia. I wanted to transition CCHC from a home-based business to a physical office location. PIDC provided financial support that allowed us to invest in our new office space, expand operations, and continue our growth trajectory.

In what concrete ways have you grown your business in general and after assistance from PIDC – if any?

Since receiving assistance, we have made more meaningful connections in our new community and are actively building relationships with other business owners while growing our business. Securing a permanent office space has allowed us to expand our services, hire more employees, and reach more clients. As we continue to grow, we remain prayerful for ongoing stability and increased revenue, ensuring the long-term success and impact of Carefully Caring Home Care.

What advice would you give to families considering home care for a loved one?

Do your research, ask questions, and choose an agency that prioritizes compassionate, personalized care. Home care is more than just assistance; it’s about enhancing quality of life and preserving dignity. Make sure the caregivers are a good fit for your loved one’s needs and values.

What is the most rewarding part of working in the home care industry?

The most rewarding part is seeing the transformation in our clients [and] helping them regain independence, form meaningful connections, and improve their overall well-being. Knowing that our services make a difference in people’s lives every day is what keeps me motivated.
